A Gardener’s Fate

“After his death, the gardener does not become a butterfly but … a garden worm tasting all the dark, nitrogenous and spicey delights of the soil.”
Karel Capek (1890 – 1938)

Maybe the male gardeners do become worms, but I’m sure the female ones turn into the most beautiful butterflies ever! 😉

Tell me: what would you rather become?

Butterfly or earthworm?

  1. Well I’ve always wanted to be able to fly so a butterfly on a balmy summers day – what could be better? Have you read Capek’s ‘The Gardener’s Year’ Kathy – well worth doing so if you have not already come across it.
