It’s a beautiful sunny morning. The wind’s a bit fresh, (March is going out like a lion!) but look at that blue sky! Would you like to join me on a Sunday stroll in the woods?
Since Anemone nemorosa is only just beginning to flower, she is still showing a touch of pale pink… or is she blushing?
Her cousin, Anemone ranunculoides, is a little showier in her bright spring yellow…
The Corydalis cava spread across the woodland floor, like Edwardian ladies preparing for a picnic…
This must be the Corydalis bride…
Look who is waking up… a sleepy cowslip! Primula veris, what a nice surprise!
While the Hepatica nobilis perfumes the woodland with its sweet and heavenly scent…
… the Yellow Star-of-Bethlehem, Gagea lutea, simply glows…
And glows…
Yellow seems to be the colour of the day, as the Lesser Celandine, Ranunculus ficaria, draws the eye to a sunny clearing …
But oh my goodness. A jump for joy! Long sought and rarely found! Two sisters stand next to the foresters’ road; Coltsfoot – Tussilago farfara – has finally been sighted again.
Now we can turn back and make our way home in the warming sunshine.
Thank you for coming with me!
