“If you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment.”
Georgia O’Keeffe
Either click on the photos for a closer look, or go and find a flower and enjoy the moment…
Georgia O’Keeffe was an important 20th century artist, revolutionizing the way flowers were depicted in paintings. She showed the inner life of flowers, by painting them as if looking through a magnifying lens. A true inspiration to many who followed. (If you’re interested in her paintings, look at “georgia o keeffe flowers” in Google images, or take a look here)
One has to love Georgia. Great photos – both are very much in the O’keeffe style. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your comment. Have a good day!
Cathy I adore Georgia and she certainly has influenced the way I photograph flowers…lovely images!
She was a great influence to so many.
Love the colors of these flowers! Very pretty!
The clematis are having a good year! 😀
So interesting that these flowers look antique, sun worn, faded. Even the texture and shape; curled with much sage character. Very beautiful, I am intrigued this world you reveal;)
Thank you! I appreciate your comments.
Now there’s one of those quotes that make you feel privileged to be alive. And you actually managed to photgraph your flowers in the style of O’Keefe’s paintings–you’re brilliant, Cathy!
😀 Thanks Robin! I love this quote as it is really true!
I need to spend more time with flowers in my hand. 😉
Hi Cathy, this is so true. Uta
It is! I am glad I found this quote!
She is my inspiration. As a teenager I tried to paint wild close-ups of flowers on a grand scale. Now I just take pictures! Had the opportunity to see her work in Santa Fe, amazing experience! Love your photos of your clematis.
Thanks Bonnie! I thought of you as I wrote this post, and can see she has inspired you!

I love this quote very much. In order to be happy human beings need such moments, I think.
You have beautiful “Clematis”, Cathy!
Thanks Elisabeth. They are both so healthy this year!
I like Georgia O’Keefes´ paintings as well. Funny, when I saw your pictures I immediately thought of her even before I read the text.
Wonderful! 😀
So beautiful Cathy! I so love the perspective you ‘ve shown and the quote too. I have always loved Georgia O’keeffe and have a print of her famous poppy painting that I purchased when visiting the MET for the first time. Thanks for bringing her into my thoughts again.
Her paintings really brighten the day, don’t they!
