Tuesday at Two (2nd July)

What happened to June? It just flew by!

The bright sunlight in today’s picture is due to me being a bit late (again!) so the sun had moved round. This was about 4.30pm.TuesdayViewJuly2nd

A perfect summer’s day! And the Sempervivum still hasn’t flowered, although the buds are quite visible now…

Here’s another update. The strawberry pot I planted up earlier this spring is looking lovely – the watering system I described here works wonderfully. All these plants get pretty thirsty, but it is no problem supplying them with enough water now.

Have you had any successful trials in your garden this year?

  1. You really have a lot going on in the foreground of the first image. Nice! Glad the watering technique was successful. Watering pots is difficult for me–I usually forget. (Getting ready to make lavender ice cream to take to a Fourth of July party and am sure the other guests will love it!)

    • That’s a lovely idea for a party! The garden is a little chaotic at the moment, but will calm down in July I think! Have a wonderful party!

    • It’s the Lobelia in the pot that gets so dry and is sensitive to heat and drought… I was later than normal with my picture. But I like your idea of seeing the view at different times of day.

  2. My garden is so water logged and lots more rain all week forecast so we are trying to keep the garden from floating away…flowers seem fine as I have accounted for water loving plants in the areas that flood, but some veggies are not at all happy with all the rain. We need lots more sun for fruit and veggie production.

    • I’m so sorry you’ve had so much rain Donna. I can really sympathise as we had that a few weeks back. Hope it dries up for you soon.

  3. Very lush and full we are so blessed compared to so many suffering. Next week will be the 90’s Hot and Sticky Summer weather hope a little less rain so tomatoes don’t rot πŸ™‚

    • I love Caryopteris. I hope it grows well for you. I have tried to grow them but they only last a couple of years… not sure why. Look forward to an update some time. πŸ˜€

  4. I am a recent convert to the Sempervivum, I wonder what colour it will be. It is comforting that you feel June has flashed by too. I find this year has not had the clear seasons to keep me in time with the passing months.

    • It’s funny you should say that, as I feel the same. Kind of “out of sync”. Hope things settle a bit in July and August, but so much is late this year it’s confusing.

  5. Your strawberry pot really has done well, Cathy! Everything looks so beautiful. I can’t say that I’ve done anything very special in the garden recently, except that we’ve probably been a little more alert to maintenance and it has made such an overall difference. Everything looks healthy and the plants aren’t stressed, even in the heat. And I agree…what happened to June!!
