It must be summer!
My dear neighbour, Ingrid, rang the doorbell on Saturday and handed over this delightful bunch of flowers picked from the edge of the cornfield beyond our garden gate.

Field Poppies, Cornflowers and Chamomile are the main characters,
but the Sweet Peas are the star!
Of course, I had to go and look at the field later that afternoon, to see it for myself…
Isn’t that a glorious sight!
Cathy’s meme “In a Vase on Monday” is intended to encourage us to look in our gardens for flowers to cut each week, but I suppose I’m cheating a bit as they aren’t exactly in my garden…
…but very nearly – only just beyond the garden gate. 😉

You’re way ahead of us here in France with your field poppies. Not many at all yet. They do look so fabulous in the cornfields though don’t they?
Yes, everything is a little early here this year. Poppies and cornfields are one of my favourite views. 🙂
What could be lovelier than a bunch of June wild flowers? I love them, the colours look so beautiful together. I would love to have a view like that to look out on. Our fields are full of crops.

I’m so pleased they don’t use weedkiller in that field. One year they planted it with just sunflowers and left them standing for the birds…. 🙂
This is lovely and wonderful to see a corn field with wild flowers. A stunning arrangement in your vase., I particularly like the inclusion of the grasses.
I’m not sure what all the grasses are, but they do complete the look. We see a lot of fields with poppies in, but I’ve never seen cornflowers in one near us so it was a lovely surprise!

Absolutely… If we didn’t have a well-used public footpath around two sides of the garden I’d get rid of the fence so we could see it better! LOL!

Oh, to live *just* outside a field like that! It must be glorious. I love my garden filled with flowers, but I’ve never had a field (except when I was a child.) In those days, I used to go to the field and hide out to think and be alone. The flower arrangement your neighbor and friend brought to you is precious. What a dear neighbor you have. Nature makes perfect combinations.
I used to love roaming the fields near my childhood home too, and we had poppies in cornfields then, but never cornflowers as far as I remember. I agree entirely – when nature puts colours together they always go well with each other and never seem mismatched!
How beautiful! The photo of the field of poppies reminds me of the first time I visited Germany, and was amazed at the sight.

I like this cornfield with the beautiful wildflowers of summer in it. Last week my husband picked such a wonderful bunch for me when he was walking along with our dog.

Your vase is like a cornfield in miniature – what a kind neighbour you have. A field like yours is such a rare sight over here, we’ve become accustomed to seeing weed free (flower free) expanses of cereals. It’s such a shame.
Thank goodness they don’t always spray them here. We don’t have that many cornfields in this region, but when I see one it is usually dotted with poppies. 🙂

Just beyond the garden gate is fine, Cathy – it all fits within the original idea, and aren’t they gorgeous?! But as everyone says, seeing a whole field of them is stupendous!

I think you’re right Cathy, and it’s barley not corn! I was focusing on the flowers more than the crop. 🙂 I’m loving seeing all the different ideas from other vases too!
