In a Vase on Monday: a Birthday Treat/Cheat

Since my parents are here for a visit and my Dad is celebrating his birthday, today’s vase for Cathy’s meme “In a Vase on Monday”Β  is for the birthday boy. It’s also cheating a little as

a) these were actually picked from the flower field near our home and not the garden

and b) the vase was put together and photographed about six weeks ago!

There will, of course, be cake as well as flowers.

And have a lovely Monday everyone!

  1. Congratulations to your dad! I actually have a vase with sunflowers on my windows sill ~ and the sun is shining from a cloudless sky. πŸ™‚ Happy birthday everyone!

  2. Hope you had a great family birthday day, Cathy! And thanks for making sure you still joined in even with your time restraints – such is our obsession, I fear! The sunflowers are gorgeous, and you picked them locally so that’s all in the spirit of the meme – they will certainly have brought you pleasure, and us too because you have shared them πŸ™‚

    • Thanks so much Cathy. Yes, couldn’t bear to miss a week, and was glad the sunflowers suited the occasion! πŸ™‚ And yes, we had a lovely day together!

  3. Happy Birthday to your Dad – what a lovely well planned vase – the flower field must have been stunning with all those sunflowers – are they still flowering?

    • Thank you Julie – the sunflowers are still flowering as I think they are sown at intervals to extend the season. They aren’t looking quite so fresh now though. It’s only a small field with some rows of gladioli too, which didn’t do so well this year. It’s a nice sideline for the farmers to make money out of odd corners near the roadsides!

  4. I love sunflowers and your vase. How lovely to have a flower field nearby. Happy Birthday to your Dad, hope you have better weather than the rain here. πŸ™‚

  5. My dad’s birthday is Monday, Cathy…first day of September. And can I just say that the idea of having a flower field so close to home is really quite thrilling. Beautiful flowers! Sunflowers are so cheerful. I am so glad you had the opportunity to share your dad’s birthday with him. I know that had to be special for him, too. πŸ™‚
