I got a message from WordPress the other day to congratulate me on my blogging anniversary. Guess how many years….
Nine!
š
My goodness, how time flies!
To celebrate I am sharing my vase of asters today for Cathy’s meme (Rambling in the Garden).
The purply pink ones are a novae-angliae aster calledĀ Septemberrubin.
The white ones are what they call wild asters here, but are actually Erigeron, growing on the edge of the woods and at the roadsides.
Naturally I had to add a few grasses. After all, it IS September and they are at their peak; Miscanthus, Panicum and Pennisetum.
The wonderful September weather is set to change soon, so I am busy outdoors the next few days to make the most of it. Looking forward to some rain though. š
Have a good week!
We share the same climate I think – definitely the same flowers are growing around here! It’s a beautiful early fall arrangement, especially against that blue sky.
Hi Chris. We probably don’t have such a hard and long winter as you, but I have also noticed over the summer months our gardens seem to be in sync! Today was our last summer day and tomorrow we are finally getting some rain, so the garden should be glad of that!
Frothy and exuberant. Your vase looks lovely beneath that blue sky. Happy blogging anniversary Cathy!
Thanks Susie! The flowers will go on for a few weeks, but that blue sky will be rarer in the next week or two now some rain is finally coming our way! š
Congratulations on nine years. It can be hard to keep it going.
Thank you. It is my readers and the lovely comments you all make that keep it going! š
Way to go! It seems lake it’s taken nine years to get through 2020.
Oh John, I know what you mean! Hope you and your wife are well.
Nine years – whoohoo! I am just about 6 months behind you, Cathy š Seeing your lovely anniversary vase makes me realise I should have included some grasses in my also-ran vase! Is Septemberrubin your really tall aster? Your vase certainly looks magnificently tall!
Yes, Septemberrubin is the tall one and it is just amazing and gets better every day. Loads of Peacock butterflies on it today. š
Must have been lovely to see š
Happy blogging birthday, Cathy, isn’t it scary how time flies!!! Must check how long I’m doing it. Your vase it so pretty and romantic. Wishing you both a good week and as they say “bon courage” xx
Thanks Annette. Hard to believe it has been so long! I was only just starting to expand my old garden at that time. Have a great week Annette. xx
Love a big vase of wispy wildness. Well done. Happy Blogaversary.
Thanks Amy. Wispy is a nice way to describe it. š
Congratulations on nine years of blogging, Cathy. And a beautiful display of celebratory flowers too. š
Thank you Joanne!
Congratulations on your blogging anniversary, Cathy! Blogger (Google) has never taken any notice of my blogging anniversary but then it’d probably startle me it it did…Your pink asters are gorgeous and unlike anything I’m able to grow here.
That aster really is amazing Kris. And more flowers open every day. š
Congratulations! What an achievement. And your beautiful vase of asters is a lovely way to celebrate the season.
Thanks Chloris. Autumn is my favourite time of year, and the asters play a big role. š
I love asters and Sept. is their month – heavenly! Happy Blogiversary – nine years is an impressive amount of time. Here’s to many more! š
I love asters too. š And mine should go on through October I hope. They bring so much colour and life to the garden when the annuals are gone.
Fall is welcome every year. I love the crisper air and the angled sun. Oh how I envy you the rain! Enjoy your garden time.
Hi Alys. Well, it still hasn’t started raining, despite the forecast. Waiting with bated breath! I know you love autumn too and hope you have a couple of pumpkins this year!
PS It has just started raining! šš¦š Hope you have a drop soon too Alys.
Cathy, Merry Christmas. I’m sorry to have missed this comment so many months ago. I hope you are doing well. I’ve been absent from the blogging world, but hope to return in a more meaningful way once again. xo
Merry Christmas Alys! Look forward to hearing more from you in the near future! xx
Thank you, Cathy.
Oh many congratulations on that blogging milestone Cathy and that is a lovely vase to celebrate with! I wish Blogger would share that personal touch but ….. I hope that your lovely blog continues to bloom for many years to come.
Thank you Anna. I hope to carry on even if I do not post as often as at the beginning when I was doing a post a day!
Hey, it’s Erigeron, just like our native fleabane, but with color.
Congratulations on nine years.
Thanks Tony. The Erigeron was banished from the vase a day later as it dropped all its petals and pollen!
That is unfortunate. I do not pay much attention to the bloom when I put some of it into a bucket before plugging it into the landscape. The stems perk up if they were dry limp when cut, and then root straightaway when plugged into damp soil in autumn. The procedure coincides with cutting them back. I really do not need more fleabane, but have added it to the tops of stone walls that lack landscaping.
Congratulations on 9 years of blogging Cathy. A belated wish for many more years, it has been so enjoyable following along.
Thank you Karen. It has lovely having you follow me along. š
