In a Vase on Monday: Flowers for Dorris

Last week I was so sad to hear that our blogging friend Dorris (Rebecca) had passed away in December. I will miss her fun-loving nature, the gorgeous photos of her garden, and her lovely creative vases. I may never have met her, but felt I knew her a little through her posts. We shared a love of many plants including Verbena bonariensis, Calamagrostis, Geums and Californian poppies.

So my vase this week is one from June, warm and cheerful, with Geums and Californian poppies. It seemed appropriate as my garden is covered in snow anyway.

Our In a Vase on Monday host, Cathy at Rambling in the Garden, has also dedicated her vase to Dorris this week.

More Californian poppies for Dorris/Rebecca. My sympathy to all who knew and loved her.

❤️

    • Thanks Noelle. I shall think of her again and again I think, when the Californian poppies start blooming and the Verbena starts attracting the butterflies. 😃

    • She commented on that vase post in June saying how much she loved the poppies, and I was inspired to grow Geums by seeing hers some years ago. 😃

  1. Oh those Californian poppies – how vibrant and full of life they are! Comparing them with the absence of blooms in your snowy January garden today seems to be a fitting expression of our loss. Thank you for this, Cathy

  2. A lovely and fitting tribute, Cathy. I was shocked by the news when I read it on Instagram. It’s good to see Dorris/Rebecca remembered in this meme she so obviously enjoyed.

  3. I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Dorris, but many times at Cathy’s IAVOM on Mondays I would see her wonderful vases. I did not leave comments and now I regret it. It has been a great loss. Rest in Peace.❤ Cathy the best tribute you can do is that wonderful and full of color and life of your bouquet of flowers: it is divine ❤ The bouquet with which Cathy has joined for her tribute is also divine ❤ Cathy a hug And here you have me for whatever you want: my email margaritaecologica@outlook.com Take care of yourself. Very affectionate greetings from Margarita ❤

    • Thank you for your kind comment Margarita. Sending you a hug back for being such a sweet friend and blog follower! 🤗 It is always extra sad when someone so young goes so suddenly. We must make the most of every minute… and every flower. 😃🌷🌻🌺

      • Thank you very much Cathy for your kind words. I consider you a dear friend who I trust and who has helped me a lot in difficult times. And it is true, very true, that it is very sad when someone dear to young dies: I know from experience, my brother passed away at the age of 29. But you must always remember them with love and always keep them in your heart. It has been 27 years since my brother left and I always keep him in my memory and talking about him. Flowers for Dorris with love. A very strong hug for you. Very affectionate greetings from Margarita 🤗😘🌺🌺🌷🌷💐❤

  4. We can all do with sunny flowers after these terrible news, Cathy, this vase is a good choice to celebrate the life of a lovely blogger and gardener who died way to early. I’m so shocked! Sending hugs your way xx
