I am having a great time sifting through garden photos and viewing all the fabulous flowery posts some of you have been sharing for my ‘Week of Flowers’. Designed to chase away the grey and chill of these December days, it is open to everyone. So feel free to join in and simply post a flowery photo or two a day through until Devember 6thโฆ and leave a link below. We are already on Day Five – goodness me, these past few days have flown by!
My first photo today is my gorgeous Himalayan Foxtail Lily ‘Eremurus himalaicus’. I know they are fussy plants, so I am keeping my fingers crossed they will flower again next year. They were amazing!
And my other flowers today are Asters. They always do well in my garden, even after a very hot and dry summer. ๐
Looking forward to seeing what others are sharing today.

Have a warm and flowery Sunday everyone!

Oh wow! That Himalayan Foxtail Lily is splendid. Let’s hope it returns next season for you. Here’s my choice – Roses today! https://rosieamber.wordpress.com/2022/12/04/a-week-in-flowers-challenge-gardeningtwitter-flowers-aweekinflowers-day-5/
Thanks Rosie! ๐๐น

Can’t get enough of asters! In fact I am just about to cut some of their withered stalks down in the garden today (too brown even for me).
I’ve gone with a peony theme today. They are worth re-visiting, as the brevity of their season always seems like a shame: https://frogenddweller.wordpress.com/2022/12/04/a-week-of-flowers-day-5-peony-power/
Some of my asters have gone already too. The rest will probably just collapse and hopefully blend into the background! ๐

Those asters! Fabulous colours.
It’s hot pink for me too today: https://daffodilwild.wordpress.com/2022/12/04/a-week-of-flowers-hot-princess/
Thank you Sandra!
The Himalayan lily is stunning! Definitely one to look out for. I love the asters too. I’m getting more next year.
๐ You can never have too many asters Cathy! LOL! ๐ธ
I may have to deepen the borders ๐
๐
Day five already!? I’m so glad your foxtail lily has made an appearance, I thought it was the most amazing thing to fill your border this summer and I suspect it will be even better next year. Lucky you since as you know not everyone has success with these.
Here’s my entry for today. Something warm from last summer since it’s a cold morning here: https://katob427.com/2022/12/04/a-week-of-flowers-day-5/
Thanks Frank! I am keeping my fingers crossed for the lilies and have planted a couple moreโฆ ๐ If one flowers I’ll be happy. They are pretty pricey though.
I only managed to grow a foxtail lily once. But they are so glorious it would be trying again. Here’s my post: https://www.lindabrazill.com/each_little_world/2022/12/a-week-of-flowers-day-5.html
I am not sure it will return, although we do have good conditions for them here. I just know how picky they can be!
I remember the Himalayan Foxtail, wonderful to see it again and all the asters. Some fresh flowers in my post today..https://theshrubqueen.com/2022/12/04/a-week-of-flowers-day-five/
When I look back at the photos of my foxtail lily I can hardly believe how wonderful it was! ๐

I am enjoying the reminiscing, Cathy. thanks for hosting this annual meme. My post for today is at https://ramblinginthegarden.wordpress.com/2022/12/04/a-week-of-flowers-day-5-tulips/
It’s great looking backโฆ and forward! ๐
Yes, we are doing both in these posts, aren’t we? I nearly forgot that!
Your Himalayan Foxtail Lily is a star Cathy and must look magical especially at dusk. I hope that yours comes through the winter and makes an even bigger clump next year. I’ve seen the bulbs for sale at horticultural shows and have been fascinated by them.
Probably not enough sun in my garden for them to flourish ๐ค Your asters always appeal to me. My post today is here : https://greentapestry.blogspot.com/2022/12/a-week-of-flowers-2022-day-5.html
I have to admit to planting a couple more foxtail lilies, so I hope at least one will flower for me next year. ๐ The bulbs are so weird. Like some kind of sea creature!
For some reason I was unable to post the specific link today. I wish that Blogger and Wordress would play together happily!
Not to worry, I have managed to change it. ๐
Gorgeous flowers you have shown today, Cathy!
Thank you so much Aletta! ๐
Foxtail lilies are yet another flower I covet but don’t have a chance of growing in my climate. Our closest substitutes are foxtail agaves (Agave attenuata, which bloom and then die) and Drimia maritima (aka sea squill).
I consider myself incredibly lucky to have had those foxtails flower for meโฆ I have seen them in a garden near us and thought it would be worth trying. I will be waiting with bated breath to see if they flower again for me! Good that you at least have something similar you can grow Kris.
Love those hot colors of the asters, so welcome in the fall. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that your Eremurus returns! My post today: https://wp.me/p3O3z4-2Wx
Thank you Eliza! Yes, the asters are a joy, especially this year after the hot summer that burnt all my summer flowers!

The Himalayan Foxtail Lily โEremurus himalaicusโ is nothing short of spectacular! I hope you can count on that again next year. ๐
Thank you Debra. I will be sure to report back on the Foxtail Lilies! ๐
