A very short post this Monday, as I share a vase with flowers from my garden for the weekly meme hosted by Cathy at Rambling in the Garden.
Short and sweet, refers not only to my post (time has got the better of me today), but also to the flowers – the Narcissi smell gorgeous and the stems of all the other flowers I picked (except the Snowflakes) are rather short!
Cowslips, Narcissus Thalia, Summer Snowflake, Pulsatilla, Anemone Coronaria, Corydalis cheilanthifolia (the yellow flower at the back), blue and white ‘Forget-me-nots’ (actually Brunnera), and blue and white Muscari.
Actually picked on Saturday, as a table decoration, but photographed today.
Have a lovely week everyone!
Oh the color! A vase full of spring! It rained again here in California and our yard is bursting with growth. I can’t wait for all the spring blooms!
The leaves are also coming out here too Deb. In a week or so it will be green!
Lovely! I especially like the white narcissus and the pulsatilla.
Hi Sam. Pulsatilla is often out earlier than this, but with our warm spell last week it has grown so quickly!
I do love the shape of this vase, Cathy, with the flared top – and what a varied selection of spring blooms you have popped into it! Do you find white muscari hard to establish? I have tried several times but with almost no success
Hi Cathy. I only planted these white Muscari last year after seeing them on other blogs. The blue ones are spreading like mad, so I hope these will too.
I hope they do spread for you. I have noticed about two flowers coming through on mine over the w/e, so perhaps I have cracked it!
A perfect vase that will linger as I eye new blooms coming on as the garden warms…thanks Cathy for sharing your spring in a vase!
Thank you Donna. I am in the UK at the moment and the weather seems to be changing every hour of the day – snow flurries, warm sunshine, rain and sleet showers…. Hope you have a lovely weekend!
Beautiful collection of spring flowers. They have stayed very fresh and lovely. The white vase has a nice line.
I think this white vase – possibly the cheapest find so far – will become a favourite! Hope you have had a lovely week Susie.
The flowers may be short but they make a pretty spring display, Cathy. I hope you have a wonderful week!
Thanks Kris. I nearly didn’t manage to get the vase done this week, but so glad I did! 🙂
Hope you had a lovely weekend, Cathy. Your little vase is very sweet looking with the blooms that you chose.
Thanks Karen. It’s great to bring flowers indoors every Monday, especially when it has been such a busy week as this one! 😉
Lovely spring colors!
Thanks Eliza. I am lapping up these colours now that the garden is coming to life! The greens are starting to show all over now. 🙂
Hurray!
Hope you have a lovely week too Cathy, beautiful Spring vase today. 🙂
Thanks Julie. April is living up to its reputation… we had snow flurries this morning and warm sunshine this afternoon!
Beautiful vase and setting. The simple white vase sets off the flowers and the background is a lovely contrast.
You know, I was so busy concentrating on photographing the vase that I didn’t notice the green background until reading your comment! I was clearly distracted!
I love it, the photography of the vases is more difficult than I thought it would be! much easier to take a picture of plants.
Enjoy your week, Cathy.
Thanks Alys. Have a lovely weekend. 🙂
Such a lovely vase of spring – thank you for finding time to share it Cathy. Have a good week – hopefully with some perfect gardening weather.
Hi Julie. I am hoping for a couple of dry days this week to plant a clematis for my Mum… I am visiting briefly in the UK and we have had quite a lot of rain the past two nights.
Lovely blend of colors, Cathy, the Pulsatilla is an unusual color and contrasts so nicely with the black center. I love Thalia and the white Leucojums with the white vase, and the delicate blues.
Thank you Hannah. I have a purply blue Pulsatilla too, like the wild ones that grow on the hillsides near us. But I do love this pink one!
All the best of Spring gathered in a perfect, simple vase.
Thank you Ricki – what a lovely comment. 🙂
Such a lovely vase of Springtime color, Cathy! Wishing you sweet hours in your garden! ♡
Aw, thanks Dawn! Hope you are having a great weekend!
The very image of spring!
🙂 I could have picked a huge bunch if there had been more time. Such a wonderful time of year!
Wow, what colours! And so beautifully arranged! Natuerliche Schoenheit!
Thanks! Or should I say Vielen Dank! 😉
Doesn’t white make everything else pop? This is lovely.
Oh yes. You are right about the white. I must remember this for contrast in future bunches. 🙂 Thanks FlowerAlley!
A most colourful spring table decoration Cathy. I think that ‘Thalia’ is possibly my favourite daffodil. Wondering now why my white muscari didn’t flower this year. Hope that you have a good week.
Cathy also mentioned her white Muscari don’t reappear. This is the first year for mine, so time will tell! I agree, Thalia is a magical daffodil and I am tending towards more pale cream and white daffodils in future.
That’s a stunning pulsatilla. Great clean colours
The pulsatilla loves our chalky soil and has grown into a huge clump over the past few years. 🙂
The flowers held up nicely from Saturday, Cathy. It’s a very sweet little arrangement with so much variety and beautiful bright colors! I hope you have a good week, too, my friend!
Thanks Debra. It has been a hectic week, as I am now in the UK for a brief visit. Rather chilly here today, with snow flurries this morning! Brrr!
How wonderful…despite the weather. 🙂 I hope your time in the UK is very special family time!
‘Thalia’ is a beauty, I might want to get some of my own. Looks great with the cowslips.
I can really recommend Thalia. It doesn’t grow too tall and hang down in wet weather like some daffodils, and has a couple of flowers per stem too. And it smells lovely!
Narcissus Thalia is very striking among all the coloured flowers.
I really like Narcissus Thalia, Brian. It does make a lovely contrast and smells great too!
Your posies are always so charming and sweet, so ‘Cathy’ really and the lush emerald green background really makes it shine 🙂
That is such a lovely comment Annette – thank you! 🙂 I am away in the UK this week and expect to be bowled over by the shades of green when I return!
have a good time, Cathy, and I suppose hubby is in control of the emerald lawn…it grows so fast these days, think you can really see it grow 😉
Such an appealing and colourful combination of little spring flowers! It opens my heart and brightens these rainy days…Have a happy weekend, Cathy!
Thanks Elisabeth! I am in the UK until next weekend and it is rainy and chilly here too. Have a sunny Sunday! 🙂
Such an amazing combination of colours! Love this!
Nature certainly knows how to show off in spring! 😉
