    • Definitely! The smaller blue ones last much better than the larger, more dramatic ones. Apart from blue I only have this golden one, and no other colours; it has taken three or four years to flower so beautifully!

    • My large blue ones have faded too… they only look good for a week or so. But the golden one is still going strong as it opens just one or two flowers at a time!

  1. Marvellous blooms, Cathy! I´m dreaming to have an intensely blue and a white one. My “Iris sibirica” is lousy this year – it`s a pity!

  2. Wow, I learned a lot from this!
I used to have a wild one the color of your first two. It is a native to this area, commonly called blue flag.

What a rich color that orangish gold one is!

    • The orange one is called Iris barbata-elatior ‘Feu du Ciel’. It took ages to get established, but is very hardy and is fabulous this year, with about twenty blooms. (Last year only 3!) 😀
