Spectacular! Your photos have done justice to this, my favorite flower. 🙂
They are spectacular, but the larger ones go over so quickly. 😦
We love our irises!
Definitely! The smaller blue ones last much better than the larger, more dramatic ones. Apart from blue I only have this golden one, and no other colours; it has taken three or four years to flower so beautifully!
Outstanding images. Your irises have lovely, rich color. Mine are all faded now.
My large blue ones have faded too… they only look good for a week or so. But the golden one is still going strong as it opens just one or two flowers at a time!
Marvellous blooms, Cathy! I´m dreaming to have an intensely blue and a white one. My “Iris sibirica” is lousy this year – it`s a pity!
I wonder why they haven’t done well this year.. maybe the heat we had so early on, and then the cold nights that followed?
Pretty flowers! I didn´t know Iris was a drug. How interesting!
There are loads more definitions too! 😉
Wow, I learned a lot from this!
I used to have a wild one the color of your first two. It is a native to this area, commonly called blue flag.
What a rich color that orangish gold one is!
The orange one is called Iris barbata-elatior ‘Feu du Ciel’. It took ages to get established, but is very hardy and is fabulous this year, with about twenty blooms. (Last year only 3!) 😀
Since childhood the iris has been one of favorites. They are so showy
I love them too. My Mum used to call the big ones Flags, and they really do show their colours!
